Learning about the budget cuts

There's always a first impression arriving to a new place, influenced by some factors.
The place can be great, but the impression - sour. Or vice versa.

Australia, and namely Darwin, met us with three cards up its sleeve:
- Fantastic variety of wild birds on city's esplanade, allowing us to approach them in some cases as close as few meters.

- Price shock after Asia.

Even though we had a "buffer zone" in Singapore, that did not help much. It is quite uneasy to pay at least 40 USD for a crappy room with a bathroom outside, when you're used to paying 5 USD for a spacious room with balcony, and a modern bathroom inside.

One tenth of the time, nearly the same budget.

Welcome back

Congrats both coming back to Western Civilization or more likely to land of island dwellers. I could say Britons and Irish had big  wish to  own bigger island . Oh sorry continent :)

Your future trip to NZ looks more appealing to me. I will definitely do that in 3 years. Err, live there in 3 years. When I can immigrate under Investors category. After I accumulate enough wealth to do that.
