Who's guarding the guardian

I've asked a resident of Melbourne, living there for over twenty years, if he could tell me the name of the most dangerous suburb. Gangs, guns, drugs, that type of place.

He said that he is sorry, but there is no such place. Everything is calm and rather peaceful. "Of course", he added, "there are occasional killings or theft, but in general it is rather safe".

That is exactly what I feel staying in a country - rather safe. If you do not make fun of drunken fans of Australia's rugby team after its loss to England, you are more than likely to come back home in one piece.

Still, Australians themselves tend to go over the top. Iron bars on windows, barbed fences and chained statues will be my witnesses.

Is there a word "oversafe"?
