Typical street view of Thailand's small resort town

Before our first visit to Thailand, four years ago, we imagined it will look something like Switzerland in tropics.
Not at all. Even if there is a huge number of tidy and fine resorts and spas throughout the country, the main street of a small resort town will look pretty much like the one below.

Healthy and bustling, but quite messy.
Motorbikes whizzing around and parked on the sides. Occasional mobile food stall passing a white couple that went shopping to the street. 7-11 grocery shop in sight, as well as some bank's branch. A lady looking for customers that are interested in massage, or the other massage.
Incredibly messy power cables. A constuction site. Distant hills.
And sweet, warm smell. A mix of food, sea and nature.
